Our Team
Forres Angus is owned and operated by Jon and Chris Erby. Keen students and supporters of the Angus breed Jon and Chris have recently relocated full time to Wycombe Park.
Jon, a distinguished architect, was awarded an AM in 1986 for his service to architecture and the community. He was the founding President of the Primary Club of Australia and is a life member of many sporting associations. As a result of his continuing cricket interests a number of bulls from the Forres herd have been named after famous cricketers.
Chris also plays an important roll in the day-to-day activities at Forres, ensuring the bookwork and stud records are accurate and up-to-date. She is a member of the NSW State Committee of the Angus Society and she also serves on the Charities Sub-Committee of the Primary Club of Australia.
Brett Thomson has been Stud Manager at Forres since 1990. A practical cattleman with a keen eye, Brett ensures the day-to-day operation runs efficiently and smoothly. Dedicated to producing top quality “no-fuss” Angus cattle, Brett is involved in genetic selection, collection of breeding data, recording, development and expansion of the stud.
Brett graduated from Farrer Agricultural High School at Tamworth in 1978 and studied Agricultural Economics at the University of New England. He is married to Jane, who holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree from the University of Queensland and in February 2004 completed her studies which enabled her to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. She is a Director of Addisons Accountants in Dungog.
They have two children, Alison and Stuart, who are both very successful members of the Dungog Pony Club.
Brett is a former Chairman of the New England Angus Breeders Association and is seen here presenting life membership to Bruce Steel of Ben Nevis Angus Stud, Walcha. He is Chairman of the Dungog Showground Recreation Reserve Committee and is a Past Treasurer of the Dungog Agricultural and Horticultural Association.
Ken Rumbel brings to the Forres team his vast experience of both cattle and horses. He gives his time voluntarily playing "father confessor" to Brett and providing a most welcome second opinion, whilst never hesitating to “tell it as it is”.
His reputation as a breeder of Stock horses is legendary and he is also well known for breeding Devon cattle.
Jennie Wilson provides secretarial and bookkeeping support. Jennie lives at Gresford with her husband Paul and their two daughters, Monica and Isabella. Both Jennie and Paul are very involved in their local community and the girls are keen members of the Paterson River Pony Club.
