Remarks: We have purchased a number of outstanding cows from Forres Angus Stud over the years and have found them to be solid breeders. Forres Jets Pagent T34 is an especially good donor providing us with a number of top quality calves.

Name: Murray Waterhouse
Location: Moredun Creek Angus,BULBY BRUS Australia

Date: 20.02.04
Remarks: Using Forres females as a foundation, Moredun Creek Angus has been able to establish a first class herd which increasingly is being accessed by discerning commercial breeders to fulfill their requirements, with progeny of Forres females out-performing and out-selling those from other backgrounds. The Doris and Burnette families have been particularly kind to us, producing outstanding females which breed on. We look forward with anticipation to your “Opportunity of a Lifetime” sale and the unparalleled chance it provides to access the very best of Forres genetics.

Remarks: Millwater Angus, owned by Shane and Susan Snowdon and James and May Snowdon was established in 1996. Looking around we decided to purchase our first foundation heifers from the Forres Angus Stud at Dungog.
Our first was a young heifer Forres Abigail R3, a daughter of RR Traveler 5204, who started our stud’s success in the cattle industry in both the show and sale ring. Forres Abigail R3 won four Supreme Exhibits and many Champion ribbons, and also produced outstanding bulls, one selling for $8,000. Our second heifer was Forres Doris R28, a daughter of Ranui All Black, who also won five Junior Champion ribbons and two Supreme Exhibits. These two Forres heifers gave Millwater a well know name around the show circuit and sale ring.
Over the years we purchased many more top quality Forres females whose progeny were just as successful in the show ring. Finally we purchased Forres Ninah T13, a daughter of Krugerrand of Donamere, and she has become the foundation cow for our stud and within two years she became Supreme Exhibit at six consecutive regional shows.

Our success on the show circuit and in the sale ring has been an unforgettable experience and we would like to thank Jon and Chris Erby together with Brett Thomson for all their help and support over the years. Our Forres foundation cows have given Millwater Stud the quality to produce great cattle which we believe will carry through into the generations to come.

Remarks: In the early 1990’s, being frustrated at buying in steers for fattening and never achieving a really top quality end product (despite the best of everything), I took myself to the Forres Female Sale, determined to acquire foundation cows for a small commercial herd, so that I could gradually test my own bred cattle against bought in steers. The results have been extraordinary, in so far as the prices I have achieved have favoured the Forres blood line cattle by an average of $94.00 for steers of the same age,
Since that purchase, I have bought at every Forres female sale and I have also purchased three bulls.
I have bred and kept or sold commercial bulls from the Forres foundation cows (which were all Burnettes) and presently have a bull from Forres Burnette K113, by Ranui All Black which has sired 213 calves, only one of which had to be pulled. This bull is a 1998 spring calf, weighs 1162 kgs and successfully covered 43 females last spring.
Thank you Jon, Chris and Brett for good advice over a long time. You have certainly kept my sensitive hip pocket nerve from twitching.

Remarks: I use Forres Angus Bulls in my Orara Black Composite Breeding Program for the following reasons:
1 The bulls are bred and reared on a similar plane of nutrition and environment.
2 The bulls are not forcefed grain, but prepared on pasture or grazing crop.
3 The bulls are all run together for ease of individual comparison.
4 Forres uses a wide spread of genetic material, using AI and Embryo Transfer from a deep and valuable source of high maternal females.
5 The bulls are all Performance Recorded with Breedplan.
6 The bulls are critically examined for structural soundness.
7 Bull Guarantees are solid.
8 Bulls are delivered free of charge.
9 Brett Thomson runs the show - so I know it is done right. (This reason should be the first not the ninth).
10 I continue to get the required results for my bull buyers.
11 Forres is an MN3 Johnes Disease Monitored Herd.

Remarks: Starting with their original bull sale in 1992, my wife Jennifer and I have been annual buyers of Forres Angus bulls and females for our commercial herd.
Our objective has been to breed quality steers suitable for feedlots and the export market. Forres bulls have been able to provide us with a consistent weight for age advantage with our steers yielding a better return which has enabled us to succeed in the market area we have targeted.
We have also purchased a number of Forres stud females which have been used exclusively within our bull replacement program. The Forres females have been able to pass on to our commercial herd the great Angus attributes of calving ease, temperament and excellent maternal traits, whilst adding frame to our cattle, without being extreme.
After buying Forres cattle for the past ten years, I am very pleased with the results that we have achieved, and I am very happy to recommend the Forres Angus Stud to other prospective buyers.
